Hi,
I got another problem with the BrigeBoard:
I got the AT Board with 8Mhz, and it works fine - if it wants. But every now
and then at the startup it doesn`t install itself at binddrivers and AMOUSE
brings up an system request: JANUS SETUP FAILURE The big problem is, I could
not find the cause why this happens. In fact, I boot once - it works, then I
reboot - it doesn`t work. Programs which look for expansion cards tell me some-
thing like: `It is there, but turned off`
There also is another problem - but on the Software and the Amiga side:
The Janus software doesn`t close it`s screens (most time ...) and I got to
zap them with xoper.
The last thing brings up the question: Is it the software? Could someone
please post the current version of the Janus Software? (Yeah - mine tells
me it is 2.0, but it also writes something about V36.xx)
The error occured, even if I tried different hard- and software setups.
A2000rev4, Kick 1.3 normal (512k) customchips
A2000rev6, Kick 1.3 1MByte Agnus (this was a friend`s computer)
A2000rev4, Kick 2.0 1MByte Agnus, Super Hires Denise **
On every setup I got an AlfII professional Controller with Quantum 40S and a
80M SCSI Seagate (don`t remember the number ... just its *damned* slow) and a
Supra Ram Board with 6M
And - an important thing - I got the same problems with two different AT
Emulators. I don`t know the Board Revs, but one had an external CMOS battery,
the other one seems to have it on board (on chip? the clock is SOOO big)
Could it be the HD controller or the memory board - (I couldn`t test it, the
friend I swapped motherboards with, has no HD [evil grin] and the same memory
board)
** on 2.0 it works a little bit better, but perhaps I just imagine that
Hoping for help,
Froh

Programs which look for expansion cards tell me some- >thing like: `It is there, but turned off` there are a few known problems with the bridgeboard starting up. usually it's something like 1 in 10 times it won't come up. the forthcoming janus software release fixes that. it may also be that the chips on the board need to be reseated (push down firmly on all socketed chips), but that sounds unlikely since you've got two bb's with the same behavior. >There also is another problem - but on the Software and the Amiga side: >The Janus software doesn`t close it`s screens (most time ...) and I got to >zap them with xoper. i don't understand what you mean by "doesn't close it's screens". the only "screen" that the janus stuff opens is when you run pcwindow in color mode, or in "own screen" vs. "shared" mode. please explain a little more clearly. >The last thing brings up the question: Is it the software? Could someone >please post the current version of the Janus Software? (Yeah - mine tells >me it is 2.0, but it also writes something about V36.xx) janus 2.0 is the latest release available for purchase. please tell me the janus.library and janus.handler version messages displayed under the bios copyright box after you boot the pc. also, do you have any cards plugged into the pc/at slots besides the bridgeboard? >Hoping for help, > > Froh --Scotty -- =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Scott Drysdale Software Engineer Commodore Amiga Inc. I've asked some C=-guys (can't remember the names) at the Amiga'90-Expo in Cologne, Germany and they said "It will be finished in 3 - 5 months!" At CeBIT in Hannover, March '91 nobody seemed to know anything about it! So what's it's status? I _need_ an "amouse.drv" for Windows 3.0!
