Interesting news from the IBM world ;-). INTEL has released a modem! Called the 9600EX, it supports V.32, V.42bis and MNP 2-5 for throughputs of up to 38.4k. The really interesting thing about this release, is that I just saw it from a mailorder house for $479! Just thought you amiga types would be interested. Connects to a standard serial port. John Bashaw No disclaimers, TNC doesn't care.

They're now offering a SYSOP discount program for people who're running BBSes. You are allowed to buy one modem for each of your active BBS lines, and one more for yourself. Other than that, all the standard SYSOP deal disclaimers apply pretty much as other manufacturers ask. The pricing is as follows: 2400 MNP 1-4 $130.00 5-up 115.00 2400 Plus 1-4 $150.00 5-up 135.00 2400 I MNP (PC) 1-4 $ 95.00 5-up 85.00 2400 I Plus 1-4 $125.00 5-up 110.00 9600 1-4 $440.00 5-up 420.00 (Expected release in April) Although these prices aren't quite as good as some of the other modem companies, the extra modem at the lowball price maight make it cost effective for some sysops. Call their sales number at (800) 727-8772 for more info and specifics... -- -Bill Seymour billsey@agora.uucp or billsey@agora.rain.com ***** American People/Link Amiga Zone Hardware Specialist NES*BILL ***** Bejed, Inc.
