1. I can't get it going when using the "-n" option. Xoper shows that Handshake is started, and sometimes it opens an "Auto-Dialer" window, but it never dials the number or puts any text in that window, which it shouldn't have opened anyway... 2. When I run the ARexx program with the Handshake display on, I still have problems. The most obvious is, after setting the protocol to ASCII and starting HS_RECEIVE('tmp:foobar'), Handshake pops up a requester saying "File open failed". After I acknowledge this, it continues on its merry way, having managed to open the file just fine. What's it complaining about? The more subtle problem is that HS_GETSTR doesn't always find the string it's been told to look for, although it does appear on the screen. Makes scripting very difficult. 3. If HS_TIMEOUT is set to some very high value, Handshake refuses to let you quit, abort the macro, or do anything else. It locks itself away in a small padded cell until the time has passed, then it once more recognizes your existence. All I'm trying to do is automatically download messages from a couple of BBSes (so I can read them quickly with my newsreader, which allows me to use KILL files). Not exactly rocket science, but I'm not having any luck. Does anyone successfully use Handshake 2.20c for such a thing? I thought that next I'd try to figure out VLT's ARexx commands, but the archive I downloaded (VLTjr5034) has zippo documentation on both the ARexx commands supported and VLT's own script language. Whaddaya think gang, is it worthwhile to send away for the free 114 page manual? -------------------------------------------------------------------- Jeff Van Epps amusing!lordbah@bisco.kodak.com lordbah@cup.portal.com sun!portal!cup.portal.com!lordbah
