[comp.sys.amiga.datacomm] Want un-BinHex on Amiga

ruslan@uncecs.edu (Robin C. LaPasha) (03/04/91)

This is in c.s.a.intro as well as in c.s.a.datacomm, since it's a
borderline FAQ -

Does anyone have a utility to un-BinHex files?

Explanations:
BinHex is a file utility like uuencode, which is popular
for Macintosh files. The files which use it have ".hqx" on the end.
I would like it ON the Amiga, in order to better access (and
convert) goodies like Mac PS fonts and the like, as gotten from ftp sites.

I don't need an un-SIT utility (unless you have one that can handle
UnStuffit_1.5.1's RLE compression,) thanks.

We have a C compiler (and Fortran if necessary) if you wanna send
source.

Thanks in advance.

Funny, I'm looking for the same thing myself. Unfortunately when I
mentioned the subject on Compuserve a few weeks ago, nobody had heard of
any such thing. (If only the person who implemented UnSit for the Amiga
had thrown in a BinHex decoder just like the Mac version...)

Hi! I have an un-binhexer with source. I haven't tried it because
I haven't transfered any mac files to my machine yet, but I'm thinking
in transfering some fonts.

I'll send you the in-binhexer, but I also need the un-siter for compressed
files, so if you can send me that I'l be plenty happy :)

Hey Gustavo, if you could post that on ab20 or a like archive
site, you'd make a lot of friends ;*)

Failing that, could you arrange to send it to me?

Many thanks!

Oh yah, in case anyone cares, I needed BinHex once, and I just downloaded
the Unix UnBinHex and it compiled without any problems under
Aztec 3.6a which I used at the time. So if anyone needs it fast, just
get it and compile it. It is probably on comp.sources.unix
or on simtel20 or uunet.uu.net. I got my copy from venera.isi.edu,
but donno if it is still available there.

Oh yah. Don't have it anymore, sorry. :)
