This is my first post, so bear with me please. I have an A3000 and the supramodem2400zi and VLT and I can't seem to get them to work together under 1.3 or 2.0. As I am a new owner it's quite likely that I am doing something wrong, but the software that came w/ the modem has a timestamp 6 mo. before the A3000 was released, could there be a problem w/ the device file? Just guessing anyway I figure someone on this net knows or knows someone who might so... By the way, C= didn't bother to send a working motherboard with this machine 2 mo. ago I just got it back last week so I wouldn't rule out the possibility that there's another hardware problem. Thanks in advance Dan PS I love the machine, but C= has some really bad policies and crappy customer relations.

As I am a new owner it's quite likely that Hi there...nice to see you online... Just a quick check for you...did you tell VLT that your serial device is now called modem0.device instead of serial.device? There should be a program included with the modem that will search through VLT and replace all occurances of serial.device with modem0.device. And of course, modem0.device has to be in your DEVS directory. I'm not familiar with VLT (other hearing accolades about it) so there might be a menu item that you can type modem0.device in as the default serial driver for the terminal. ____ /Campbell@cup.portal.com

"Can't seem to get them to work together under either 1.3 or 2.0" is kind-of hard to debug remotely... 8^) You would have to be a little more specific in order for me to grok what the problem might be. For example, does VLT come up okay? Any funny error messages? Which version of VLT? Did you select the right device for VLT to use? Do you get any garbage characters at all? What speed, parity and handshake are you using? Does the modem echo any characters? That sort of thing... Willy. ---------- Willy Langeveld - Bitnet: WGLP09 @ SLACVM - BIX: langeveld

No need to go modifying VLT's executable. There's a clearly marked menu item to select device and unit number, and it will be saved in the config file (if you select Save Configuration). Willy. ---------- Willy Langeveld - Bitnet: WGLP09 @ SLACVM - BIX: langeveld
