[comp.sys.amiga.datacomm] ab20 login

barry@helios (Barry Alcott) (05/04/91)

Hi netters,

Can anyone tell me why I can no longer ftp to ab20?

I get a message to the effect that my login was rejected.

Tanks,

It works ok for me. Be sure you type user name "anonymous" (it's important
that it's spelled right), and your e-mail address as the password, which in
your case would be "barry@ucscloc.ucsc.edu"

If your terminal program supports macros, you might want to use two of them
for the above two strings. This works well for me, since I almost always
do ftp from my Amiga.

Possibilities include:
1. You aren't using the user name 'anonymous', and your
real id as the password (in your case, 'barry@ucscloc.ucsc.edu')
2. They banned you (I dont know if they do this at ab20, but
it may be a possibility.) Did you upload a file which contravenes the
   MOTD rules?
3. The FTP server hates you :-)
