[comp.sys.amiga.datacomm] Software implementation of MNP protocol...

gt1619a@prism.gatech.EDU (Net Runner Mark V) (01/16/91)

Does anyone know where is to be found a software implementation of the
MNP protocol for the Amiga? There's such an animal for IBMs, and I know such a
thing would be relatively easy to implement on the Amiga (just look at the CMD
utility). This would be greatly appreciated if anyone knows where I can find
one.

Failing that, if anyone just happens to come across the source code for
said protocl on another machine, tell me where to find it.

Hi!

I once tried to write such a driver, but the main problem is, that
MNP5 is a syncronous protocol, this means that there are between a
number of bytes (16 I think) no start- amnd stop-bits. The Amiga
Serial device (and Hardware I think) does not support any kind of
sync transfers. So it would be *VERY* difficult (only device) or
(Hardware) even impossible to write such a device. :(

	Ciao
