[comp.sys.amiga.datacomm] incoming call noise

barber@jazz.concert.net (Scott Barber) (05/25/91)

A while back I got a Supramodem 2400zi and have been quite satisfied
for the most part. However, every once in a while I get a series
of junk characters on the screen that I'm convinced are caused by
someone trying to call me. I use the *70, at the beginning of my
phone string, and this seems to prevent folks actually getting
through to me, but I also get this crud that can at times actually
lock up my session.

Also, if I DON'T want to use *70 for one reason or another, I get
a RING string on the screen, but it doesn't properly disconnect and
let the call come through.

All this worked fine with the modem I had on my IBM before I went
on my voyage into Amyland.

I've checked through the docs, paying particular interest to the
DTR setting, but haven't had that grand breakthrough just yet!
(Hoping someone out there has played this game already, and can
tell me who wins, and what was the game plan.) Also, I can't
remember what the Hayes command is to get a listing of the current
settings. (And yes, I've perused TFM.)

Thanks in advance for any (particularly the helpful) ideas,

Scott
