[comp.sys.amiga.programmer] Anyone want source code for reading IR remote signals?

ron@vicorp.com (Ron Peterson) (03/05/91)

Would anyone be interested in my posting the source code for an infrared
remote control reader? I developed an application that I thought had
some market potential---a software/hardware combination that reads the
signals from any IR remote, memorizes them, and then can compare them to
received signals, match them, and use them to trigger AREXX commands or
scripts. Thus it allows you to control any AREXX compatable software
from a distance using any remote control. The hardware is really simple.
All you need is one of the $4.00 IR receiver modules from Radio Shack
and a parallel port connector.
Seemed like a good idea (and in fact another company has come out
with exactly the same idea) but the publishers apparently aren't
interested. So I might as well give it away so that someone gets some
use out it. I only developed the software to the point where I could
demonstrate feasability so the software currently can't save/recall
patterns to disk and the AREXX link is a real simple hack, but the
code that reads and memorizes IR signals is solid and could easily be
extracted for your own applications. Also, it wouldn't take much work
to finish what I've started and make a very nice IR-AREXX controller.
If there is enough interest I'll draw up an IFF schematic and post the
code to comp.sources.amiga.

I'd be very interested, I bet a lot of others would too!

Yes, please! (post the source for an infrared remote control reader).

I would also appreciate it if you could find time to make an IFF schematic.
