[comp.sys.amiga.programmer] Formats Supported in ADPro As Of

perry@madnix.UUCP (Perry Kivolowitz) (04/03/91)

I have been asked by a half dozen people via email which formats
are supported by ADPro. Since it is unlikely that my return mail
will actually reach all these people, and there are probably more
people who would like to know, I make this public posting.

As of today (April 2, 1991) Version 1.0.3 of ADPro is shipping.
This version includes (as standard) the following modules:

INPUT OUTPUT NOTES NEW IN 1.0.3?

IFF IFF (1)
IMPULSE IMPULSE (2)
SCULPT SCULPT (3)
GIF GIF (4)
PCX PCX (5)
DPIIe DPIIe (6)
DV21 (7)
FRAMEGRABBER (8) YES
HAM-E (9) YES
MACPAINT YES
SCREEN (10)
BACKDROP (17)
		FIRECRACKER	(11) YES
		FRAMEBUFFER	(12)
		POSTSCRIPT	(13)

Several other formats are in process now. Including structured
formats (why is everyone in comp.sys.amiga.programmer so excited
to reinvent the wheel?).

Also, four new image processing functions were added in 1.0.3.
These include Tile, Blur, Filter, and Colorize.

All loaders (except for BACKDROP) are capable of compositing images
together in 24 bit-planes (or 8 bit-plane gray).

AVAILABLE IN THE PRO CONVERSION PACK ($90):

INPUT OUTPUT NOTES NEW IN 1.0.3?
TARGA TARGA
TIFF TIFF
RENDITION	RENDITION

Also there are the following option hardware controllers:

EPSON ES-300C ($200) Complete scanner controller right in ADPro. Even
makes the scanner controllable via ARexx.
POLAROID CI-3000 ($200) Total control over this excellent film recorder.
Records with 33 bit-per-pixel precision. 35mm and up, up to 4x5.
Lets ARexx control the film recorder.
KODAK SV6510 ($250) Total control over this Kodak printer (24 bit). Makes
the printer ARexx compatible as well.
DUPONT 4CAST (Call) One incredible printer.

Several other hardware drivers are in development.

NOTES:

(1) 1 to 24 bit-plane files including HAM, EHB, SHAM, Dynamic HiRes,
Dynamic HAM, and DIGIVIEW 4.0 21 bit files. See (7)
(2) Both RGBN and RGB8 varieties.
(3) Same format used by Mimetics FrameBuffer.
(4) Reads both 87a and 89a. Writes 87a for greater compatibility.
(5) Including EGA, CGA and VGA formats.
(6) The format used by Deluxe Paint II Enhanced on the PC.
(7) The 21 bit format used by DIGIVIEW 3.0 (OBSOLETE) See (1)
(8) This is direct control over the PP&S FrameGrabber (NOT THE
FRAMGEGRABBER 256). This is a complete alternative for the
software provided by Progressive. You never leave ADPro to
digitize. This also makes the FrameGrabber ARexx compatible.
(9) This loader will load any HAM-E file and convert it back into
     24 bit-planes. IE: De-Ham-E it. The IFF loader will load a HAM-E
image and NOT destroy the HAM-E cookie. This loader will decode
     the HAM-E file back into 24 bit-planes.
(10) The SCREEN loader is a screen grabber which can grab any screen
     including menus.
(11) This saver is a complete FireCracker controller. Every aspect
of the FireCracker can be controlled from this saver including
the ability to control the FireCracker from ARexx.
(12) Same for the Mimetics FrameBuffer.
(13) Any image can be output as PostScript either as color or grayscale
     encapsulated, or not.
(14) Targa sub-formats 1, 2, 9, and 10 and some others.
(15) TIFF in and out at the 5.0x level including LZW, RLE and no
     compression.
(16) Rendition is the format used by Caligari BroadCast.
(17) The BACKDROP loader creates logical bit-maps of a given size
which may be smoothly filled with color or may simply be black.
Remember, ADPro does all sorts of compositing functions, the
BACKDROP loader creates the canvas on which you can composit
     other images.
