[comp.sys.amiga.programmer] Sony CD-ROM and software sampling

Hi all.....I just got a Sony CD-Rom reader, a CDU-5002-B. I haven't
hooked it up to the Amiga yet (and would appreciate hearing from anyone
who has done so with a similar person or who knows how it might be done)
but I was thinking that something like this would make a very nice sound
sampler if the software existed. My understanding of a sampler is a
device that is basically a D/A converter, so I thought that since the
CD-ROM will be putting out a digital signal that could be used as is ....

I'm not a programmer or I'd be trying to do this right now, and making
heaps of money with the advent of CDTV. What do you all think of the idea
though, could it be done? I thought of displaying the tracks of the CD as
a waveform, which could be played or edited a bit like AudioMaster or
others do with sampled sound. I might have a go anyway if I can get this
thing hooked up.
