I posted this a week or so ago to csa.misc, and got no responses, other than a few inquiries. Maybe someone here might be able to help me. I have been corrected in that the offset windows is something taken care by the window manager and not X itself. (just to avoid more msgs) Anyways, I really would appreciate any help on finding or implementing something like this for my amy. 4/8/91 I was sitting in one of the SPARC labs in school here a few days ago, when I noticed something really nifty that my amy didn't do. When I opened a new shell on X-windows, they always opened a few columns over, and a few columns below the corner of the last one. "wow", I said to myself, "this could be really cool if I could do this when running dnet off of these things...". My question is this, IS there a way to make a new shell open in a place relative to the previous one? Let's say you're using mach II or III, qmouse, etc, and hit Amiga-Esc to spawn a new shell. It's pretty annoying having to move them every time so they're not on top of each other. Does a program exist that will permit you to define an offset for the new shell? I'm sure you kinda get the picture, but here it is for those who have no clue: X <- close gadget of last shell X <- close gadget of new shell X <- close gadget of next shell, etc. This is a definite plus for people like me who use sunmouse and like to click the windows to front a lot. Any Ideas? -hOz -- /*-------------------------------------------------------------------------+ // The Amigoids from hell, lagnaf@rpitsmts.bitnet \X/ Renssepolyinstatechnitute lag@rpi.edu 'That's what you get when you don't put out...' - 1/31/91 */
