[comp.sys.amiga.programmer] Getting started in C...

gblock@csd4.csd.uwm.edu (Gregory R Block) (04/27/91)

Okay, here's the story. I'd like to get started in C, coming from a
fluent Pascal background. I know a bit about programming C, so
beginners books aren't important. I've got the Amiga RKM:Libs&Devs,
and I've picked up Dice, unreg. What I'd like to know is how I can
get my little hands on the Amiga.Lib/includes/autodocs. It doesn't
say where to get them. Are they freely distributable? (If not, they
should be... :)

Thanks bundles...

P.S: Anyone have a Star Micronics XB-2410 color printer? How many
colors does that thing support?

Greg

Available from CATS as the 1.3 Native Developer Update. 2.0 files not
available yet. For more info:

Send mail to:

	CATS-Admin
	1200 Wilson Drive
	West Chester, PA 19380

And ask for information on the developer support program. I believe
that you can also call (215) 431-9180 and they will send you the info.

There are two developer levels, both require that you be working
on a product that you believe will make it to market.

Developer status includes a subscription to AmigaMail (our technical
newsletter), access to beta software, access to developers conferences,
and access to closed conferences on BIX. Commercial status also
includes phone support.

Certified Developer, $75/year, no phone support, no other
	    requirements. $25 signup cost.

Commercial Developer, $450/year, phone support, requires that
you have an existing product on the market. $50 signup cost.

CATS also offers materials such as DevCon notes, 1.3 Developer Update,
and AmigaMail. Prices and ordering information are available at the
above address. Most of the CATS developer support materials are available
to non-developers, so you can get the technical information even if you
do not want to become a developer.

Ken's probably included this file so often that he doesn't realize it
wasn't entirely applicable in this case. Heh.

Anyway, it might not be clear from his message, but you don't need to
become a developer to purchase the 1.3 includes and autodocs (which
are something like $20). You do need to become a developer to obtain
the 2.0 autodocs right now.

Oops, you're right. It should read something like:

Available from CATS as the 1.3 Native Developer Update. 2.0 Native
Developer Update not available yet. 2.0 Includes and Autodocs
   available only to developers.

Basically, all technical information except 2.0 specifc stuff
is available to anyone. 2.0 stuff includes: beta copies of
software, 1990 Devcon notes and 2.0 includes and Autodocs.
