[comp.sys.amiga.programmer] Dual-playfield?!

hbrinch@icoast.UUCP (Henrik Brinch) (05/12/91)

I've been trying numeral times to get the dual-playfield mode working
on a standard intuition-screen (must be 2 fields of 4 colors each -
that should be possible). I get a crash, but when cutting down
to ie. 2 fields of 2 colors it works - Anybody who's been trying this
out? If yes, could you please e-mail me an example?

The problem is that I have to have some background graphics behind some
string-gadgets, this ISN'T possible on OS1.xx-OS1.3 - an that's the problem
it HAS to work on the older models - any other solutions to this
"graphics"-behind-string-gadgets-stuff. Right now I'm doing quite a dirty
hack (I KNOW!) by just changing the ScreenHandle->BitMap.Depth to 1
so the intuition will stay in the first bitplane, though it isn't a solution
as when the OS has to update the screen (say dragging the screen) I
logically loose the other bitplanes containing the graphics!
I guess I have to do my own con-string-gadget-routine? If the dual-playfield
solution isn't good????? :-(
