[comp.sys.amiga.programmer] need pipe: that is IsInteractive

henning@thor.acc.stolaf.edu (05/18/91)

Hello everyone,

I realize that I am probably going to regret this, but I will let the
cat out of the bag. I am very soon going to release GNU Emacs V18.53,
Amiga vesion 1.10. It is --- so far as I can tell --- finally stable.

I will be making an official notice on comp.sys.amiga.announce, but for
now, I have a request. I have gotten emacs to call child processes
and receive their output. The only catch is that they cannot be
interactive processes, because some programs require their stdin to be
a virtual console. (Eg. sksh) I therefore made a decision to not
activate the asynchronous subprocess options until someone made a pipe
device which answers TRUE to the dos library IsInteractive(FileHandle)
call.

If someone knows of how to do this, or, even better, will give me
sources to a pipe device THAT THEY HAVE SUCESSFULLY COMPILED UNDER
MANX 5.0, along with a makefile that works under the same (I have
tried both the dillon and the aux: devices, and either I am missing
something, or they just don't compile correctly under manx 5.0)

p.s. I will be doing the upload thing as soon as I have:

1. Ironed out the final legal details with Richard Stallman

2. Received confirmation from archive sites that they will be willing
to house the distribution. (Note: The full distribution just fits on
6 standard amiga floppies. 2 unarchived ready-to-use disks and 4
lharc filled disks, broken into logical segments.)

Thanks in advance to anyone who is able to help me.
