This is directed publicly, as there is probably some other interest for the answers to these questions. I could just (e)mail it to the appropriate dude(ette)s@cbmvax.commodore.com if I knew whom they were, but I love to start net.rumors. Commodore-Amiga is currently working out the kinks of their DIG (Device Independant Graphics) system. I note signs of its prescence in 2.0x in the flags that specify if a displaymode is genlockable, draggable, etc. Is it possible for someone from Commodore-Amiga to post any information about how I can work within these specifications? Otherwise, whom might I (e)mail to find out this information. I presume it's probable that I might have to become a registered developer to obtain this material. If so, so be it. For some quick-but-sparse background on my madness: I have recently struck upon a clever hardware trick that would allow me to rather elegently add 1024*768 8-bit display capabilities to the Amiga. I cannot go into details because, like all elegant hacks, it is innately simple and obvious (yah, sure pal!) once you know of its existance. Much like the explosion of the HAME/DCTV/Colorburst trick once it was realized. Certain problems do still exist. I would like to know how I can tell the OS that my display mode does NOT have sprites. I think it is possible to "fudge" them as BOBs or their like. Also, I think I can elegantly and fairly- compatibly open a screen onto my video hardware, and possibly (under 2.0) transfer the Workbench display to it. But -- to do this, I need to inform Intuition/Graphics that I don't know how to autoscroll, I can't do copperlists & their ilk, and itty-bitty things like that. By now, some of you _really_ quick ones may be thinking that I have underestimated/overlooked THAT problem. You know, THAT one. The BIG one. Nope. I fixed it. It's neat. Lest I self-inflate my cranium too much, I'll stop there. If you don't know what problem I'm talking about, don't worry. I fixed it anyway. ;) The possibilities are quite... possible. A mode much like/compatible with the HAM-E device is easily added, with Black Belt's support. The Edsun palette anti-aliasing chip. A few things that I don't want to mention, 'cause they're too neat, and I giggle alot every time I think about them. :p Replies via Email or Followup. If I get anything juicy-but-publicly-postable, I will summarize.
