[comp.sys.amiga.programmer] 68010 and SWIV

iann@cnw01.storesys.coles.oz.au (Ian Nicholls) (05/25/91)

I have a (great) game called SWIV, but it doesn't like my new 68010 chip.
There are few non-game programs I use that balk at this chip, so I'd like to
keep it in my machine (a B2000).

I also have two versions of the Decigel program. Neither of which work to
fix this game, because they are forgotten upon reboot.

Does anyone have a version of Decigel that will survive a reboot into a
game? I know such programs are possible (e.g. kgvp kills auto-boot for a
GVP SCSI controller), I just don't have the knowledge to do it myself.

If not, can anyone tell me how I might get this game to work on a 68010?

The problem is that normally (on a 68000), the boot sector says "Kernel
V1.0 SWIV Loader." (or something like that), the game loads up, and I play.

Under a 68010, as soon as the disk starts spinning, I get a guru (a line F
emulation exception, not the expected privilege exception) before the Kernel
loader screen displays. It indicates (to me) the boot sector is the
problem.

Any help would be appreciated. The alternative is to stick with the 68000
until I get sick of SWIV.
