[comp.sys.amiga.programmer] Moving the system stack pointer to true fast ram

joshin@ucscf.UCSC.EDU (98896000) (06/05/91)

olympus!jupiter@mlb.semi.harris.com mailed me this program in responce
to an earlier posting of mine. I have been unable to get it to work and
I would like and appreciate some help getting it to work. When I try to
uudecode it at home I get checksum errors but it uudecodes fine on the
unix machine I have access to. Either way I get the problem described
below. Help please, I'm frustrated. I'd also appreciate the location
of a newer version of uu#?

For some reason I am getting the "file is not an object module" error when I
try to run it. I have snipped all lines before begin and after end. When I
try to vi it it says "Incomplete last line". I'd appreciate it very much for
any help.

Kurt,

I just tried to extract your file here on teksce (a Sun 3), and it
bombed with multiple checksum errors. (19 out of the 24 lines in the
file.) I'd say that the uudecode on your Unix machine is broken, if it
couldn't find the checksums. For that matter, so is the version your
sender used, since there are spaces in the body of the uuencoded file.
The newer versions of uu(en|de)code use the back-quote (`) character
where spaces were originally used. (Spaces can cause all sorts of
problems, what with crufty news software, and editors that truncate
lines that end in spaces.)

I believe that MoveSSP is available from ab20.larc.nasa.gov. If I
remember right, it came across the net in either the binaries or sources
group. Uuencode/uudecode should be available there, too. If not, let
me know, and I'll try to get 'em uploaded. If you don't have access to
ab20, send me mail, and I'll send you the programs. It'll take a while
though; I don't have my archives in any kind of order. (I.e., I didn't
put labels on the last couple hundred or so floppies... <grin>)

|For some reason I am getting the "file is not an object module" error when I
|try to run it.

That's because it *isn't* an object module; the uuencoded file is
corrupt.

Can't help you there. Vi worked fine here (I just checked). I'm
certainly no expert on vi, though -- I normally use Dan Lawrence's
MicroEMACS.
