I'm looking for someone well versed in programming the Amiga to discuss the feasability of porting a game I've designed. The game was originally tried on a IBM-AT, but after testing and a few calculations, I came to the conclusion that the game would not be possible with a standard VGA and 386. The problem is that even a 386 is too slow to animate what I want animated. Hardware bit-blitting (ala 8514 or 34020) is rather rare on IBM PC's, and the market didn't seem to worth persuing. I've heard that the Amiga has HW bitblt, so I figured it might be possible to do it on a different platform. The graphics take up 3/4 of the screen, with animation being from 10% to 200% of that. The reason that the animation is more than what's visible is that a lot of the animation can obscure other animation. I've done some work in removing hidden animation, but because of the nature of the game not all can be removed. I'd like to it to run at 8-15 FPS, rather than the 1 sec per frame on a 386. Also, I figure a simple version will take around 2 meg for images, with a fancy version being around 6. Also, the animation is fairly detailed so a resolution of at least 640x350 15 color is desired. Is any of this reasonable for an Amiga? If you have some time and know how to do this sort of thing, please send me email. This would be on a percentage basis only, at least until a prototype was running. PS: if you know how to do sound on the Amiga as well, it'd be nice. --
