Hello There. I am distressed !!

I am currently involved in a Uni Software Project to write a word processor
on the Mac and Amiga. This word processor is supposed to be the be all and
end all of word processing.

My problem is that I am writing the Amiga code on an Amiga 500 but the code
must work on a very OLD Amiga (Before 1000). 

I have so far written a simple screen but I am unable to make it work on 
the OLD computer. I've tried kickstart 1.3 and Workbench 1.3 but it still
won't work. PLEASE HELP!!.

Please, what do I have to be careful of ?
