The author, in a recent presentation of his excellent product, said that between advertising and media and distribution costs, he was still nowhere close to making minimum wage on his development time (and I think he has so far taken an absolute monetary loss, though it's been a while since his talk at BADGE). Someone _really_ needs to repost Chuck McMannis' presentation on the nasty realities of trying to earn money by selling software yourself.
