[comp.sys.amiga.misc] USENIX Amiga Dinner / Get-together? Have fun!

limonce@pilot.njin.net (Tom Limoncelli) (01/12/91)

After the January '90 Usenix ended without an Amiga users'
dinner/get-together, I promised to coordinate one at the January '91
Usenix.

For various reasons (i.e. I wasn't awarded a student grant to help me
attend) I won't be able to attend this year.

Oh well.

Maybe next year, eh? Good luck to whoever coordinates it this time.

(Sorry if this dinner is already being discussed... I haven't had time to
read news in a while and I might have missed the articles.)

Tom
P.S. Damn. I thought I was finally going to meet real live C-A people.

I'm sorry. What would be involved? If it's as simple as setting a night
and a time I wouldn't mind being the contact point. This idea appeals to
me very much although I' a Sun-guy at work and an AmigaDOS guy at home.

The proper tense when discussing the PDP-10 and PDP-20 is PRESENT tense.

Hey.. I LIVE here in DFW and I am going to be at UNIFORUM. (Possibly
at USENIX). I can suggest places to eat. If thats all that is required I could
suggest a time/place.

(Unbashed plug for a Users Group coming up)

There is going to be 3 Toaster setup within 2 minutes of DFW Airport at
a pilot training facility called Simuflite on the 26th. It will last from 9am
to 5pm. So if you have some time to kill waiting for your flight feel free to
stop by.

Anyone wanting directions (it really IS 2 minutes from the terminal) send
me some EMAIL.

Just set up a night (try not to conflict with the really good B.O.F.
sessions or the soc.motss dinner if you want good attendance) and hang
up a poster on the message board that says, "Amiga Users' Dinner Meets
Here, xxx night 6PM." Then post about it in the newsgroups (crosspost
to comp.org.usenix and bit.listserv.i-amiga if you can).

What I've done for other dinners is told everyone (1) meet xxx at yyy
time. As people arrive we'll argue about where to eat. (2) at
(yyy+15 minutes) if we haven't decided on a place (a) I'll decide (b)
we'll split up (c) we'll argue for a couple more minutes :-).

Good luck! Have fun!
