Who says Commodore doesnt Advertise? I get a free subscription to Computer Pictures, a graphics trade rag, published by Montage Publishing. Its targeted at industry graphics related/oriented users/programmers/managers. First off, the editorial by Jim Strothman gives Amiga the credit for starting the Multimedia craze, and starts off with Commodore's definition of Multimedia. Then he gets into IBM's and Apple's. It clearly sounds like Commodore accurately defines Multimedia, while Apple and IBM defined something that is sorta like kindof multimedia that their machines are capable of. Then, lo and Behold. On page 36. A 2-page spread. The target is very clear, and perfect for the machine. It mentions that the Amiga is the only computer designed to do things like Character generation, Paint and Graphics, 2d & 3d imaging, and animation. There's a picture of a genlocked image - a newscaster, with titles and background. A rather impressive looking overlay. The ad points out the Amiga's NTSC compatibility. It points out that you dont need expensive add-ons like you do with the other machines. It points out the price performance ratio. It points out multitasking. It even mentions that it is ideal to run your video business on, and perform your video work with. All in all, I'd say this was a great job! The add looks clean, professional, and there is a picture of the 2000 at work. The name is clear, along with an 800 number for information and demo. The same magazine includes a review of AmigaVision even! as usual, flames to /dev/null followups should probably go to .advocacy (sorry, I cant post there). ---------------------------------------------------------------- -Lou Williams Via Bitnet : william8@niehs.bitnet Via Internet: lou@vaxsc.niehs.nih.gov Computer Sciences Corporation, Research Triangle Park, NC ---------------------------------------------------------------- -Sometimes in order to feel better about yourself, you have to make others feel bad, and I'm tired of making others feel good about themselves. -Homer Simpson. ----------------------------------------------------------------
