[comp.sys.amiga.misc] Key 11370

amc4919@cec2.wustl.edu (Adam M. Costello) (01/25/91)

Help! When I boot my A3000, I'm get a requester saying "Error validating disk
Key 11370 already set". I can still read everything on WB_2.x:, but I can't
write to it, and 'info' reports that WB_2.x: is validating.
How do I fix this?
Thanks,
AMC

Try using Fixdisk or QBTools.

Will these fix a disk IN-PLACE though? So far, the only thing that I have
found that will is DiskDoctor. What is the problem with DiskDoctor
such that no one wants to use it? I've used it twice now to fix hard
disk problems and been fine ever since. The first time, I was
demonstrating that you cant drag a drawer into itself to a friend, and of
course it did anyway when someone else was watching. I ran diskdoctor
once to recover the lost space (bunch of files with no directory).
At the time I didnt realize that diskdoctor needed more than one
pass to completely recover. I assume that it would have "un"deleted the
files (presumably to the root directory) on the second pass since this
seems to be its behavior when I tested it on my tmp partition.

The second time I used it to fix a key xxxxx validation error. In the
months since, my hard disk appears to be fine.

Now was that civilized? No, clearly not. Fun, but in no sense civilized.
