[comp.sys.amiga.misc] Executing script files from icons

LASKEY@svax05.pcr.co.uk (02/01/91)

Hi all,

In article <1222@sjfc.UUCP>, bpv9073@uucp.sjfc wanted to know how to
execute a script file from an icon. The only requirment is WB1.3.

1. Create your script file of assignments.

2. Create a PROJECT icon (such as Shell) with the .info extension. I tend to
draw my own icons and then use a program called SIT to convert it to a
project icon. SIT comes as part of the package of Spritz Paint which came with
my A590 hard drive.

3. Last, you must inform AmigaDOS that your icon is linked to a script file.
From the CLI, type PROTECT filename +SE
This modifies the SCRIPT and EXECUTABLE protection flags.
Now clicking on the icon will execute your scriptfile. Alternatively, from
the CLI, just typing in the script filename will execute it. (ie AmigaDOS
EXECUTE command is not required).
