[comp.sys.amiga.misc] A2000HD Workbench woes...

seamus@bucsf.bu.edu (Jeff Rizzo) (02/12/91)

I was just helping out a friend of mine who got an A2000HD on the educational
discount today, and whenever we'd use the "duplicate" item in the menu, the
machine would crash. Thinking that perhaps the OS installed on the drive
had somehow gone bad, I reinstalled it from the floppy. No dice... the same
thing. What happens is, when the "duplicate" is chosen, the new icon appears,
then the "Software Error" requester shows up. Hitting cancel indicates a
GURU $3 . I haven't yet tried installing Workbench from my distribution
floppy, as it's well away from here. Any ideas?

I had exactly the same symptoms after I installed a new RAM board in my
B2000. The problem in my case was a bad RAM chip.
