[comp.sys.amiga.misc] File Allocation Table

David.Plummer@f70.n140.z1.FIDONET.ORG (David Plummer) (03/07/91)

I was looking at the source to the "Bad Format" program today, and was
wondering: to mark a block as bad, it just marks it as allocated.
That's fine, but what happens when the disk validator finds out that
block isn't attached to any file? Won't it free the "bad" block for use?

I'd appreciate any response from anyone knowledgeable with these things.
It seems to me that this just cannot work. I suppose I could sacrifice
a floppy with a ballpoint :-) and find out...
