Hi, I've got a Next at home and I've been looking for a terminal to hook to it so I can run it multi-user. Ironically, it is beginning to look like a cheap used computer is going to be only marginally more expensive than a nice terminal, and probably worth the extra investment since the Next is a machine with big pros and equally big cons. As a consequence of several things I've read, an Amiga might just be the right second machine. What I absolutely have to have is at least one serial port and easily acquired terminal emulation software. What I'd like is an ethernet port and X server as well as NFS. To be honest, I don't expect to get this. The last time I seriously examined an Amiga was back before Commodore bought it, so my knowledge is WAY out of date. If someone could supply me with a basic rundown on the product line, architecture and exandibility of each system, relavent software available, operating system notes and list prices as well as edu discounting, I'd appreciate it. Don't bother to discuss any system over $3000. (not that I'm likely to spend even close to that much, but for $3500 I could get a Nextstation.) Sorry to ask for so much, but I really am Amiga ignorant and can't make an intelligent decision whith what I know right now.
