Hi all, I would like to get impressions from people about Professional Page v1.2. I have a chance to buy it for under $100, new and unopened. How is the package overall? Is 1.2 the latest version? If not, how far out of date is it? Is ProPage 1.2 worth about $100? Thanks for any info, -Phil Morris pmorris@bbn.com

I sent in the registration card & got V2.0 for free in January. That was a good deal. I'm sure if you are buying it new the same should go for you. I sent my registration card (with sticker and a copy of my bill). Did not receive anything. Sent a letter. Did not even get a reply. So here I am, at the end of March, still stuck with 1.3. Is this situation generalized, or am I the only one being forgotten? Don't know about others, but I think ignoring customers who paid almost 200$ for your product is no way to do good business. I have never received an upgrade to ProPage 1.3, nor to Transcript, which I also registered. Gold Disk has lessened my respect for them GREATLY. Soft-Logik's support for Pagestream is FAR better. --Rick Wrigley fhwri@conncoll.bitnet ~~~second-hand smoke is THEFT~~~

I was registered for 1.3 for around a year. I believe the upgrade price was $75.00. Sent it in and received 2.0 around 8 weeks later. Actually, if I remember right, I called and requested the upgrade over the phone. I was kinda pissed at the way they did it. I think they said registered owners after Aug, 1990 get 2.0 free. Otherwisw, $75.00!!!

I have never got anything from them, not even an advertisement, without contacting them first. And still, most of my letters were never answered... I was also stuck with the PPage 1.3 a long time (and with 1.1 even longer time; fortunately my dealer was able to arrange the 1.3 upgrade), but then I contacted a few other PPage users and we decided to send a 'collective' Fax to Gold Disk, asking for the new version. After a few weeks each of us got a letter and an upgrade offer from GD. I got finally the upgrade a couple of weeks ago... (Boy I was surpriced when I saw the package on my desk:-) If someone will meet Mr. Kailash at some Expo or conference, PLEASE ask him, what is actually the problem with their customer service... BTW, has anyone ever seen the New Laser Times, which they promised to their registered users? --------------------------------------------------------------------------- Reijo Ronkko University of Helsinki, Dept. of General Microbiology, Mannerheimintie 172, 00300 Helsinki, FINLAND Fax +358-0-4735426 Ronkko@cc.helsinki.fi ---------------------------------------------------------------------------

That's just shoddy business practice. As I said, Soft-Logik's customer support beats Gold Disk's all hollow, and (IMHO) their DTP program beats Gold Disk's DTP program all hollow as well. --Rick Wrigley fhwri@conncoll.bitnet ~~~second-hand smoke is THEFT~~~

But Gold Disk's offer (free 2.0) was valid only if you purchased 1.3 after a certain date. Last November (1990) was valid for the free update. I never got my update.
