[comp.sys.amiga.misc] Loudspeaker Design Software

tomas@inmic.se (Tomas Lundstrom) (04/08/91)

I'm posting this for a friend who has a net address but can't access
this newsgroup.

The question is: Is there such a thing as a loudspeaker design program
for the Amiga ? (doesn't have to be super pro commercial quality,
home spun is OK if it's adequate). (Actually, UN*X software would be
even better, but I haven't managed to locate any so far...)

Any references would be appreciated.

His address is and@diab.se
Replies can be sent to me or him.

Thanks,
Tomas

PS. If somebody thinks this is the wrong group to ask, please let me
know a better choice ! (I just grabbed something that looked promising...)

There is a very good speaker design package from Dissidents Software
here in the United States. It is called Speaker Sim.

The following is a message from one of the authors I received on
a local BBS; all prices are in US currency:

I would like to point out that there is a demo of this product(SpeakerSim)
on one of the Fred Fish disks.
I'd try out the demo before spending $112(US) on this. It's not bad,
but it's unfortunate that better software is available on the IBM as
shareware(not to mention cheaper).

I am currently working on my own software for LoudSpeaker Design. But
it is nowhere near completion.

A program originally called 'SpeakerCalc' and now called 'SpeakerTools'
is available through shareware, written by Sylvain Duford. I believe
I got my copy on compuserve.

It will calculate box size and port size for a vented box, as well as box
size for a closed box. It allows you to design to a specific Q, or input
sizes and see what the results will give, given the parameters of your
driver. The original version also had a crossover value calculator, but
he may have left it out of the latest version. Hope this helps.
