[comp.sys.amiga.misc] Info needed: running a U.S. Amiga in Europe

lishka@uwslh.slh.wisc.edu (a.k.a. Chri) (04/17/91)

I own an American Amiga 2000HD. It is a great machine and I am very
pleased with it. I bought it in March, 1990, and it has the Fatter
Agnus chip (for 1meg Chip RAM) and the A2091 disk controller.

I will soon be moving to Switzerland, and am thinking of taking my
Amiga with me. My question then is: what do I have to do to get my
Amiga running in Europe?

There are two potential problems: (a) conversion of electric current
to run the Amiga and (b) conversion of video to the PAL standard. I
realize that the Amiga-OS is capable of displaying PAL, but I am not
sure if my hardware is. I have checked through the technical
reference appendix of my owner's manual, but the information is
somewhat vague, so I am appealing to the wisdom of the readers in this
group.

Any information you can give me is very welcome. Alternately, if you
know of a number at Commodore Business Machines that I can call, I
would also be grateful. I checked through the manuals that came with
my Amiga 2000HD, but no tech. support phone number was listed.

One final note: PLEASE REPLY VIA EMAIL. I am unable to read
comp.sys.amiga because of a lack of space for news at our site.
Anything that is posted to comp.sys.amiga I cannot see. The safest
address to me is:

	lishka@uwslh.slh.wisc.edu

Thanks in advance for any help you can provide to me!
