[comp.sys.amiga.misc] Bugs? in AmigaDOS 2.0?

andrewsr@romulus.rutgers.edu (Rich Andrews) (04/10/91)

Hello All!

This is basically a repost with a different Subject; line.

I am using Kickstart 36.20 and WorkBench 36.69. The snapshot feature
does not seem to work properly. I have read the manual and tried
untold combinations and none seem to work.

(I tried Snapshot All, closed the window--all of them, because
sometimes the bug does not appear until you close the window of the
partition I am using--open them back up, and the snapshot did not
work).

Any help would be appreciated. (*Am* I not doing something?)

It work for the windows, for so icon do a select all first.
Or select the icon you want... (with shift if >1).
I'm sure you forgot to do a selction, since it work fine on my
machine and have the same versions...

But talking of WB2.0... How can I get

the video centered when I enable or disable the interlace (back
 switch)...

And talking of problem... Anyone know a way to get a hand on the curent
task running and 'loaded' has resident?

I too have noticed some irregularities in workbench 2.0.
I have had problem with snapshotting windows, but I usually get it to
work eventually. my usual problem is keeping the windows unsnapshot.

I have also noticed that in some windows, when you select 'show all' from
the ICONS menu (I does the show all bit OK),it leaves the tick on the
'icons only' option.

It may be that you are *doing* something, namely showing all files. Under 2.0,
selecting Show All Files in the Window menu assigns default icons to files
that don't have .info files. You can do just about anything with the default
icons -- dragging, clean up -- but not snapshot.

Check your Show setting for the window you tried to snapshot. If you have it
set to Show All Files, set it to Show Only Icons. Then snapshot the window.
This will verify that snapshot works as advertised.

If you want to avoid this problem, you need to make .info files for those
files without one. There are a few ways to do this -- copying an existing
.info file to the newfile.info or using Icon Edit to bring in an existing file
icon and doing a Save As newfile.info. There are other ways, but this will
get you going in the right direction.

Hope that helps.
