[comp.sys.amiga.misc] AMIGA support of the .gl?

dcoteles@bonnie.ics.uci.edu (David Domenick Cotelessa) (04/16/91)

I know this has been asked a MILLION times, but is there a program
that plays or converts .gl files for the Amiga? I've heard that several
people have had interest in this program, and we people don't know
where to find this program......(I'm looking for some ftp site but alas,
nothing.)

Thanks,

I saw a file called gl1-1.lzh (or something like that) on ab20,
has anyone tried it out? Does it work? Is it actually a gl player,
or something just coincidentally named like one? :-)

Question, questions...

The file:

gl1-1.lzh can be found somewhere on ab20.larc.nasa.gov. Last I saw it
was in the /incoming/amiga directory, but things have been changing too
much lately to be sure.

This is a program that will read and display .GL files and (I think) will
let you split the file up into separate (.PCX?) images. These can then
be ran through a converter (HamLab) and made into an animation with your
favorite run-of-the-mill animation package.

@jap

(This is all speculation, of course. :-))

Try looking on ab(whatever, the nasa one), for a gl1-1.lzh. Or
    gl1_1.lzh.

It is slow on unaccelerated machines, handles 256 colors by converting
everything to grayscale, and is missing a lot of .GL operations
    though.
