[comp.sys.amiga.misc] The Shily Cancer Virus

doc@brewing.cts.com (Mitchell M. Evans) (04/15/91)

This may be old news, but I have just been hit by the Shily Cancer Virus.
It seems to remap the pointer into a smiley-face. Neither Virusx 4.0 or
ZeroVirus seem to trap it. Besides wishing the authors a slow dip in a
vat of acid, is there anything I can do to get rid of it?

Virus_checker5.17 (by John Veldthuis) can detect 'Smily Cancer'
- it can be found in the /incoming/amiga dir on ab20.larc.nasa.gov.

version 5.18 is now out (cures a problem with the Berserker virus
killer on a recent fish disk) - I'll try to get it on there later
this week....

I hope this means sending it to tad for posting to the binaries group.
There are many of us that do not have ftp access and lately it seems
that everyone is placing stuff at the ftp site and not forwarding it
also to tad. Don't get me wrong, there are things going through tad,
but a lot more seems to be going to ftp then is making it to tad.

Master Virus Killer will do the trick as well as Virus Checker V5.17/18
  (which I haven't tried). Later.....8-)
