[comp.sys.amiga.misc] I need the program FixFonts

pilgrim@daimi.aau.dk (Jakob G}rdsted) (04/19/91)

I want to edit fonts, fixedwidth as well as prop.
When I use fed, that came on my Extras disk, and save
the fonts, they get so garbled up that no program, not
even fed itself, can load them in again. And, thats
whethere I edit an existing or create a new one(so it seems)

If I have understood this correctly, the following is the
reason: Whenever changes to a font is made, the above save
affects the <pitchnumber-file> in the directory named <font>.
But the file <font>.font needs updating too. And this is
where FixFonts comes in. I am sure I have seen it on ab20.larc
nasagov., but it has dissappeared, probably in the tidying
that happened a short while ago. It was just after the tidying,
I found out what FixFonts was for(?). So, would some kind soul
either tell where anonymous ftp might reach it, or uuencode and
E-mail it to me ? I assume it is public domain.
Thanks in advance,

Funny, my version of fed (from 1.3) works.

Did you already search the System drawer on your 1.3 WB??? :-)

Perhaps it was really there and someone told them that it is
a copyrighted, Commodore-owned program.

This seems to be the problem. I burned my Amiga500 real bad,
by having inserted a 2Meg expansion wrongly. The Commodore
Repair Center said, amongst other things, that the Kickstart
ROM was dead, and had to be replaced. They asked me if I
wanted 1.2 or 1.3, since the price was the same.(I believe
the numbers are 1.2 and 1.3, as I tend to confuse WB and
kickstart version numbers). So I have 1.3 kickstart, but
no new workbench disks. I guess I'll buy it, if it's any good.

Sorry for any confusion made by this.

So. This made people even more confused.(I assume this from
the amount of E-mail concerning it I've received) Therefore,
I'll elaborate: I put the RAMexpansion in correct, but
the cable from the internal diskette station had to be
removed from its connector, and I didn't press it hard
enough back in place. I put the Amiga back up and was
in heaven for almost two hours, when the damned cable
decided to jump off the connector, leaving my Amiga DEAD.
I don't know tech stuff, but I know that the repair man
said I needed a new kickstart ROM, because it was dead.

But, that leaves the possibility, that I stabbed the
poor chip with my screwdriver, while I had her(Amiga) open. :-)
