[comp.sys.amiga.misc] For Sale postings in c.s.a.x, x != marketplace

tsarna@polar.bowdoin.edu (Tyler Sarna) (05/03/91)

Please STOP posting for sale messages in c.s.a.misc,
c.s.a.hardware, and other non-appropriate newsgroups. We have a
group for these postings. USE IT! When/if I want to look at for
sale postings, I look in c.s.a.marketplace.I for one am *FAR*
less likely to pay attention to what you're selling if I'm
annoyed with you.

You know, I got involved in this thread a while back, and a few people managed
to put me in my place, most less tactful than others. After that, I vowed I
wasn't gonna get involved in it again. So I lied. Hopefully, this will put
a quick end to it.

Perhaps my reply should be in .advocacy. As in alt.humane.advocacy.
In other words, can we please stop ranting and raving about these things,
like a pup in heat? These people are human, they need to learn, not
be punished!

I believe the latest post certainly didn't deserve this!

And (see your response above) that's the best you can do to respond to a very
nicely asked question? Do you have many close friends?

In sum, Please try to educate instead of flame! Flame wars simply make people
mad, and then they'll do things just to spite you.

By the way, Neil, as you can see, I wouldn't post it here. Not unless you
like hate mail. There's bound to be somebody who will flood you with it.

No, it didn't. My post wasn't directed against any particular
poster, rather to prevent people from thinking that this sort of
thing is ok. When I make individual replies to this kind of
post, I am careful to be very polite. However, this latest
rash of mal-postings in such a short time period leads me
to beleive that people are seeing other postings and thinking
that it's ok, since everyone else does it.

I did not reply to this post. I made no attributions, and had an
entirely different subject line. The timing was merely
co-incidental. I do have close friends :-)

They can go aheead if they want. You don't sell things by spiting
potential customers. The only harm done is to themselves. My
post wasn't intended as a flame against anyone, as everyone
makes mistakes (and one person, for example, just returned to
the newsgroup and wasn't aware of the re-orginization). Rather,
my purpose was to give a firm warning on the subject, and to try
to prevent further trouble.

I'm not trying to be the net.police, I'm just trying to give a
firm statement of my opinion. People most often do what's right,
they just don't always know what that is.

No offence intended, sorry if it appeared that way.
