[comp.sys.amiga.misc] Disk Master and 2.0 don't get along!?!

aelric@aix01.aix.rpi.edu (John S Schroder) (05/26/91)

Help!?!? It seems when I upgraded to a 3000 and WB 2.03 I lost the
one program I used most often.. Disk Master by Progressive Periferals. I
would like to know if anyone has a) gotten it to work under 2.0 or b) if
anyone knows about an upgrade (they did do an upgrade before)
Would anyone have suggestions as to what directory utility to use under
WB 2.03?? Any programs that run would be appreciated.

Call Progressive Peripherals; they have a version that is compatible
with 2.0.

I use a kickstarted version of 2.04 ROMS, I believe, and Diskmaster works just
fine on the.. (version 1.4)

I haven't got a 3000, but you can try these ones, they are all dir utils very
well done:

DosManager 1.0 (Commercial, PAL)
Dirwork (Public Domain, available on a fish, very good too)

One of my friends prefers dirwork to diskmaster 1.4, so it must be very good.
I'm not sure but I think this one works under 2.0

Call PP&S to get your upgrade to DM1.4. This version will work under 2.0x,
or you can wait a short time for DM2.0.

SID is a wonderful directory utility as well (Fish #338).

  Just my two cents worth...

I saw Greg Cunningham in the San Antonio Amazing Computers the other day,
and he reports that a 2.0 compatible Diskmaster has been completed.

No other details available at this time. 8-)

Ok... I'll answer my own initial question... After hearing about Disk Master
v1.4 from a few people I checked my version and it's v1.3 Then I called
Progressive and they said the v1.4 was fixed for 2.0 but the upgrade from
v1.3 is your original disk and $10. They then also said that in 6 weeks
Disk Master 2.0 which is to be a full blown upgrade is due out and Disk
Master owners will be sent an update for which will be $20 for ANY version.

So my dilema now is to wait and hope that in 6 weeks I get something or
to pay an extra $10???

Thanks to all who have responded with info. We'll get this straight yet!

Wait the 6 weeks for Diskmaster 2.0. I've spoken directly with Greg
Cunningham (via PLINK) and he says that he is very close to being finished
with DM 2.0. This was about 3 weeks ago when I last spoke with Greg.
