System: Commodore Amiga 500, Kickstart 1.3 Workbench 1.3.2, ARP 1.3 command set (except 1.3.2 upgrades) 512KB chip RAM, 512KB internal Fast RAM GVP Impact 500 20MB Hard Drive, 2MB RAM board and autoboot The standard peripherals (Floppy, modem, printer) My computer's dying. Slowly, very slowly. It seems that something already may be dead. The system clock is losing about half a minute every hour. The battery clock (not the same thing, 'twas an add-on memory/clock cartridge put inside) is still running okay. Also, my boot-up time (from hard drive!) is slowimg down as well. It's taking about two minutes for the initial CLI screen to come up (internals switch from system testing and error processing to actual kickstart and bootup, plus HD must get spinning). Another problem I ran into, but should be fixed, is the Workbench is GURUing upon load. I can get it to run - eventually, but it requires several attempts at re-boot; and a power-down/power-up sequence just makes it worse! To fix it, I reinstalled the system onto my HD, which short of reformatting is the best I can do. Any suggestions? Please email responses, as this forum is not getting into my machine yet. -- Aidan se Sceotend of se Mistig Meres | Brent Bryan McCrackin Bryniau Tywynnog, EAldormere, Mid-Realm | Student at U. of Waterloo "Nemo me impune lacessit" | aidan@draegon.UUCP ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- ..uunet!watmath!xenitec!wynnds!draegon!aidan
