[comp.sys.amiga.misc] 2.0 specific applications?

specter@disk.uucp (Byron Max Guernsey) (06/13/91)

Are there currently any 2.0 specific applications? (in other words, they don't
run under 1.3 and never will) Just wondering...

I have several public domain utilities which are 2.0-only, but I haven't seen
any commercial programs that are 2.0 specific yet. I would guess that when
the 2.0 ROMS come that you will, however.

Yes, there are. commercially, Ami-Back is a backup program that is 2.0 only,
there is a PD term program written by Olaf Barthel that really is not bad,
that's 2.0 only. I know of a few more that i can't think of (other than my
BBS, which when finished will be 2.0 only), Plus programs like TurboText from
oxxi take advantage of 2.0 features, and disable them under 1.3

There is a version of the new Distant Suns which will run only under 2.0.
This may be ordered seperately, as the 1.3 verson is what's bundled in the
box.

In our group *ALL* new programs run ONLY under 2.0. If you program them
on your own make sure to open the dos.library with version 36 and
error 'runs only under 2.0' if failed.
