Hi! Recently there was a posting by Eric Rudolph, rudolpe@jacobs.cs.orst.edu about his IBM Keyboard Interface Project. Can somebody please report their experiences with this interface? My A1000 keyboard is getting really bad and I'm looking towards a replacement. In Eric's documentation he states that he's prepared to build it for US$25, and that he'd be glad to answer any questions but either there is some problem with mail or he got bombarded with mail and he's thus not answering mine. If the interface turns out to be good I'll be wondering if somebody would be prepared to build one and sell it to me as I don't have the equipment or the expertise to build this interface. -- Dave Campbell -- dave@csis.dit.csiro.au -- dave campbell

Since the Northgate Omnikey is now available with an Amiga switch on it, (albeit one for the 2000 plug config), it'd probably be easier for you to buy that and just convert the plug output to fit the A1000. And you'd get a hell of a keyboard. This is the solution that I'm contemplating for myself. Anyone out there know the difference between the A2000 kb modular plug config and the that of the A1000?

The A2000 uses an IBM style Din connector, not a modular plug. The A1000 uses the 4 pin telco handset type modular connector. The different connectors are the only compatibility problems I know of.
