Hi to everybody (and to those I forgot to mention), I was wondering if there's any standarised MIDI file format (perhaps IFF ?). I want to write a (kinda) MIDI program. I read a test (yes, it WAS the Amiga Magazin of Markt&Technik...) and I think they mentioned a standard MIDI format. Is that so ? BTW, by 'standarised MIDI format', I don't mean IFF-SMUS. Another BTW, where can I get information about the latest FORM-descriptions ? I have the RKM's, but the information about IFF in the I&A isn't really up to date... Anyway, thank you in advance. Yes, there is a Standard MIDI File (SMF) format for all computers. The standard comes from the International MIDI Association (IMA). The format consists of a bunch of IFF chunks but without the FORM wrapper. I'll post IMA's address as soon as I find it. Rene' A. Vega *** the original renegade ***

You will find a large selection of books about midi and they will include the standard midi file format. It is NOT SMUS... -- **************************************************** * I want games that look like Shadow of the Beast * * but play like Leisure Suit Larry. * ****************************************************

I have a copy that I can post, but it is available in the MIDI newsgroups and possibly by ftp. I got my copy by mail server. I thought that I still had the address here it is: The complete MIDI spec (including MIDI Time Code and the MIDI file format can be retrieved from LISTSERV at AUVM by sending a mail message to LISTSERV@AUVM.BITNET with the full text of the mail being GET MIDISPEC PACKAGE LISTSERV will mail the files back to you directly.
