Thanks to those who responded to my posting (N.U.W.Q. New User With
Questions). I'm up and running.
The internal 3 1/2 floppy drive was giving me trouble. The Commodore
replacement drive is $100 +. The cheapest one I found was from a mail
order place for $77.
I went to a local "generic" dealer and got a run-of-the mill 720K
drive ($58). Everything looked good, but when in the Workbench scenerio,
removing a disk and inserting another would not be reflected in the icon.
FIX: The Commodore interface looks for a signal "disk change" on
pin 2. The drive was jumpered so that disk change (DC) appeared on
pin 34 (READY). Pin 2 on other interfaces is used for density select.
Sooooo....Jumpering pin 2 to pin 34 on the drive solved the problem. If
anybody needs more detail, e-mail me.
Here's my weekly question---What is REXX or AREXX?
