[comp.sys.amiga.introduction] Protect Flags & Filenames w/spaces

zz96sr@sdacs.ucsd.edu (Steve Rusk) (03/06/91)

Sorry to bug the net, but I don't have any fellow Amigans around here
to ask.
What's the trick to setting protect flags on files that have names
with spaces in them?

This sort of question is one of the reasons for using .introduction.

Generally, whenever you want to refer to file names with wierd
characters in them, you should surround them with quotes:

cli> protect "my file" +d

Try enclosing the filename in quotes. If that doesn't work, I dunno.

No apology needed; that's exactly the kind of question this group was
created to handle:

protect "this file name contains spaces" +S

worked fine when I flipped screens and tried it under workbench 1.3
just now.
