[comp.sys.amiga.introduction] New A3000 Owner Questions

bneal@umaxc.weeg.uiowa.edu (Brian Neal) (04/16/91)

	I just got a new A3000/25/50!! A fantastic machine. I have
a question on how much memory I should have. I realize 1.3 and 2.0
are not in rom on the 3000. When I run under 1.3.2 I have about
1.3 Megs. Under 2.0 it's about the same. The avail command says
I have about 1 Meg chip and 512K fast. Is this normal? I have
heard that 2.0 takes up about 512K, but should 1.3 eat up that much?

Please help! Thanks!

Brian

That sounds about right. 2.0 takes up about 512K, and the system seems
to open another ~250K in system associated structures (I don't remember if
that's before or after you launch some Commodities. Commodities seem to take
up quite a bit of space ~50K each!).
