[comp.sys.amiga.introduction] How much for a OK amiga system?

oa2cs220@uhura.cc.rochester.edu (04/23/91)

If I want to buy an Amiga system for games, graphic drawings... How much
I should expect to pay.

I want to have a harddisk in the system, how big a harddisk I should get?

Thanks

Well IMHO, i think if ya just getting into AMIGAs and ya a student,
and ya are cash Poor, go for the A500, with the A490 Hard drive.
(Provided ya a student, and casn get student discounts that is)
With it ya'll have enough to play with for a long time.
Untill ya start doing more powerfull stuff like 3-d ray tracing, ect...

The system would have, 20 meg HD, (Kinda small but can be up'ed by a
simple removing the 20, and replacing it with a bigger one)

can have up to 2 meg addon, for 3 meg total. (Not bad)

Bee 100% CBM, so ya get their support. (They have some now days!)

Well if i had the $$$ and could start again, that'd be the system i'd buy,.
(If i had LOTS of $$$ i'd get the 3000ux!)

Don't know about prices at your place. But if you want a harddisk then
I'd strongly recommend you starting with at least an A2000HD (or buy a
bare A2000 and a 3rd party HD). For graphic drawings (not to speak of
animations), it always pays to have enough memory. And memore expansion
and such additions as HDs are cheaper on the A2000, because it is built
for this.

Get a 40 meg hard drive (actually 20 is usable, but 40 gives you extra
room). You could get an Amiga system for $1500 with color monitor, hard drive,
2 megs of ram, and Deluxe Paint.
