[comp.sys.amiga.introduction] Battery Backed Up Clock Not Found

lehr0630@w203zrz.zrz.tu-berlin.de (Heiner Lehr) (05/13/91)

Hi,

I know this is a simple problem and I remember having read the
answer, but I don't remember the answer itself ! So here's
the problem:

After having had a beautiful CRASH yesterday (with many moving
stripes, both vertical and horizontal and also sound, very nice !)
my system doesn't find my internal clock anymore. What should I
do ??

Thanks Heiner

P.S. I'm using a A2000.

	SetClock RESET

from the shell or CLI. If that doesn't fix things up (You'll have to
reset your time, and do a SetClock SAVE afterwards) there are several
PD clock fixers to handle the various modes the clock can get into from
indiscriminate crashes walking all over memory...

Try using "setclock opt reset" or "setclock RESET" from your workbench
disk (version 1.3 or something), it worked for me....

Good luck, Paul-Erik Raue (peraue@cs.vu.nl)

Hi,

thanks to all those that responded to my problem. I have successfully
solved it, but now I notice another error. It says to me that
today is Wednesday 16th of May 1990. Am I dumb, or is this not
thursday ? My calendar says so, and I thought also that this was
true. Is it a bug in DOS ??

No, it is not a bug in DOS.  The 16th of May *1990* was a Wednesday;
today is Thursday, the 16th of May *1991*.

You're dumb... (sorry, couldn't resist :-)

I don't know about you and the rest of United Germany but in the USA
we're in the year 1991, not 1990. May 16th, 1990 *WAS* a Wednesday.

It all in your mind.... :-)

Hallo Heiner,
what about using the correct year? :-)))
(Wohl Silvester verpennt, was? :-)

This was a nice one, I really reached back to my Amiga to test it,
found no error on mine and had a real tough time to find out.

Your computer is exactly right. It's just exactly one year behind, is all.
