[comp.unix.amiga] Internet address and UNIX Tech-notes

kiniry@gauss.math.fsu.EDU (Joe Kiniry) (02/15/91)

Two questions:
  (1) I cannot send mail to anything.commodore.com and cannot get the internet
numbers with nslookup no matter how hard I try. Could someone please
post the numbers for amix.commodore.com and cbmvax.commodore.com ?
  (2) What is the address once again to subscribe to the UNIX tech-notes out
of Commodore? After seeing my first issue, I have a bunch of people
      very interested...

Thanks,
Joseph Kiniry

Very simple: we're not on the internet/alternet (yet). If your
mailer can't deal with it, route through rutgers of uunet, both of which
we talk to directly. Depending on your mailer, something like:

	cbmvax!xxxxxx@rutgers.edu	or
	xxxxxx%cbmvax@rutgers.edu	or
	rutgers!cbmvax!xxxxxx

	Ditto for uunet.

You need to set the option "type=mx" when asking your nameserver
about commodore.com machines; you can reach them by mail, but they aren't
really on the Internet.

	$ nslookup
	> cbmvax.commodore.com
*** No address information is available for cbmvax.commodore.com
	> set type=mx
	> cbmvax.commodore.com
	cbmvax.commodore.com preference = 20, mail exchanger = rutgers.EDU
	rutgers.EDU inet address = 128.6.4.7
	rutgers.EDU inet address = 128.6.21.9
