GSRGAAO@TECHNION.BITNET (David Tal) (01/07/91)
To the members of this Special Interest Group:
I am looking for software, if it exists, which will take a file
received (or prepared by) FAX software which comes with most FAX cards
and will allow me to edit the file (slice horizontrally) in a manner such
that I can create my own FAX "sandwich" from a number of horizontal
strips.
The reason for this is that I do not have (or desire) a scanner, but
wish to send out letters under my letterhead and over my signature. The
pieces will be put together from a received FAX of a signed blank
letterhead I have had sent to me by a FAX service + the text specific to
each letter. The received fax was cleaned up by converting to paintbrush
(.PCX) format, fixing up, and reconverting to FAX format.
Lacking this, could somebody point me to, or explain how fax's are
stored on the PC? They are not exactly as prescribed in EIA RS465 and
466 documentation, since they contain headers, etc. although they are
packed in modified Huffman code. Can you tell me the exact
specification, or at least how it differs from RS465?
Send replies either to this bulletin board or to me personally,
GSRGAAO@TECHNION.BITNET Many thanks.
