[comp.dcom.fax] external fax devices; fax switchers

       Two fax questions:
       
       I'm looking for an external fax device with a modem that would
       work via a serial port on a laptop.  I've seen a number of
       devices advertised but not had much success finding any "test drives".
       Has anyone had any good experiences that they can share?  How does
       the output compare with conventional facsimile machines?
       
       
       I intend to have this fax device connected to a line that will
       have several extensions plus an answering machine. What type of
       "fax-switcher" could I get that would stop the fax and the
       answering machine from answering the line if a voice call came
       in and I answered it from a different extension?  Or does the
       fax-switcher only control extensions or answering machines
       which are connected to it?
