I am looking for FAX modems and software that will provide both transmission and reception of FAX documents on HP 9000 series 4xx machines running HP-UX. I'd like the ability to mail messages to a FAX server that will process and send messages, keep statistics, handle failure conditions (e.g. auto retry, auto reconnect, etc) and notify senders if necessary, and direct incoming FAX messages to a laser printer. Ultimately, I'd like the ability to perform other processing on in-coming FAX messages. I recently received information on the Network Integrated FAX Transmission Environment (NIFTE) from Intelligent Business Systems of New York and VSI*FAX from V-Systems. It appears that these products may be getting close to what I'm lookig for. I believe both use a Fujitsu dexNET-200 external modem. Does anyone have any experience with either of these products? Does anyone know of any other products? ...experiences to share? (I've seen Denis Beauchemin's news article, it seems to cover primarily Sun.) Does anyone know of any available public domain or shareware software other than Klaus Schallhorn's faxpac? Does anyone have information on modems to share? Any guesses on when a V.17 modem will be available now that it's an approved CCITT recommendation? Thanks for all replies!
